Immigration* | 6 Jan 1949 | He and Edna Gertrude Bramley immigrated on 6 Jan 1949 to Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa; Andy Clayton writes: The whole family emigrated to South Africa in 1949. They sailed on the Pretoria Castle on 6 Jan 1949 headed for Durban. Shirley married Justin Kelly whilst in South Africa but unfortunately I do not know when. My late mother's diaries unfortunately have not revealed this info and South African records are not as accessible as ours! I do know that Justin died about ten years ago but as far as I am aware Shirley is still living in the Durban area. Brenda has had a much more varied life. She came back to the UK and married Michael Frohlich (a New Zealander) on 16 March 1963 in Clay Hill, Enfield. I remember going to their wedding. Brenda and Michael divorced and Brenda then married Ray Maslyn, I believe in South Africa but I'm not sure. They in turn divorced and Brenda then married Brian Hardy, with whom she is still living, currently in South Africa again. Although Brenda seems to have spent most of her adult life going back and forth from the UK to South Africa living in both countries for a few years at a time! I still get Xmas cards from her. Neither Shirly nor Brenda had any children as far as I know. Brenda certainly did not.6 |
