Marriage* | 1916 | On 1916 Martha Elizabeth "Dotty" Bandy married Reuben Harold W Colley in Perth, WA, AUS,entry 236.3,4 |
Note* | Harold Colley sent this about Martha to Dudley Kidd: Hi Dudley The only thing I know about the "Bandy" line is that Martha Bandy married my great-uncle Reuben Harold Colley. I doubt that I ever laid eyes on her. She was disliked in the family. Aunt Martha never wanted to mix with the Colleys. Apparently she kept a clinically clean house and would not let anybody inside. I remember going to Uncle Harold's house in Bulwer Street once with my Uncle Ted and my father. I was quite young but I remember clearly being entertained outside on the front veranda. Aunt Martha did not come out. I was very fond of Uncle Harold. He was a very little man and only had one arm. He lost his right arm during the Great War in France. He was a lovely man. He used to visit my grandmother (his sister) on occasions and never missed her birthday. He always bought her a lottery ticket for her birthday. Martha Colley (nee Bandy) died 6 Nov 1972 and is buried at Karrakatta. They had one son Albert. He married Constance Fowler. Albert never mixed with his cousins from the Colley side. My mother didn't seem to know anything about him. Thelma Gunzburg said to me when I asked about him: "I don't know and really I don't care." Anyway Albert Ernest Harold Colley died 7 Nov 2004 in Victor Harbor, South Australia. What he was doing living in South Australia I don't know.5 | |
