Chapter 7 Richard and Jane of Virginia and Tennessee
Richard Bandy is the son of Richard Bandy (71, 14-1) (July 8, 1722 to July 21, 1795) and Elizabeth Cardwell Bandy (71, 14-37) ( ? - 1794) who are discussed in Chapter 2. Richard (·) and his wife Jane are discussed here along with their children (??).
· Richard Bandy (156, 16-1) (1750 - November 1815) probably was born in Cumberland County, Virginia. The Richard Bandy who registered for recruitment in Revolutionary War in Captain Pawling’s Co. 15th District, Botetourt County is assumed to be this Richard. Richard and wife Jane (156, 16-370) had ten children. Although family tradition indicates that Richard’s father married Jane Cummins, it is possible that it was this Richard. Botetourt County, Virginia records indicate that Richard Bandy and wife Jane sold real estate on July 14, 1801. As this is after the death of his father, the Richard who acquired real estate would have to have been the son. They moved to Wilson County, Tennessee perhaps around 1804. (Richard is listed in the Botetourt County, Virginia tax rolls as late as 1806 and the Wilson County Tax rolls as early as 1804.) Kentucky records list sons Wilcher and Joseph (Wilson) and possibly Jameson in Kentucky in late the 1700's and early 1800's. See Chapter 10. This indicates that some family members spent time in Kentucky before moving on to Tennessee. All six sons listed below are found in early Tennessee censuses, generally ranging from 1820 to 1860. Son Peron moved to Illinois by 1830. He was joined by brother Solomon by 1840. Solomon moved on to Wisconsin by 1850.
?? Wilcher (Welcher) Bandy (298, 17-3) (1772 - Jan 1851) lived in Virginia in 1791. He also lived in Jessamine County, Kentucky and Wilson County, Tennessee and died in Davidson County, Tennessee. He married Nancy Johnson (298, 17-390) (1785 - ? ) on January 6, 1808 in Wilson County, Tennessee, and they had five children. He is found in Kentucky records as early as 1794 (See Chapter 10.) Listed in the 1820, 1830, and 1840 Tennessee censuses.
?? Peron (Parron) Bandy (299, 17-4) (1774 - October 11, 1838) married Polly Rice (299, 17-1102) (about 1775 - about 1808) in 1804. They lived in Wilson County, Tennessee. He died in Williamson County, Illinois. Married Letitia (Lydia) Rice (300, 17-392) (1788 - 1855) on December 25, 1809 in Wilson County, Tennessee. Peron is listed in the 1820 Tennessee and 1830 Illinois census. Letitia is listed in the 1840 and 1850 Illinois censuses.
?? Joseph (Wilson) Bandy (166, 16-166) (1776 - before 1857) married Frankie Nickson (166, 16-363) (before 1775 - 1845), and they moved to Wilson County, Tennessee by 1806. Possibly in Kentucky around 1800. See Chapter 10. Listed in the 1820 (twice), 1830, 1840, and 1850 Tennessee censuses. He died in Sumner County, Tennessee. They had at least eight children.
?? Solomon Bandy (301, 17-5) (1777 - after 1855) lived in Virginia, moved to Tennessee where he served in the War of 1812, then to Illinois and Wisconsin. Married Mary Barnett (301, 17-615) (about 1765 - ? ) on April 9, 1799 in Botetourt County, Virginia, and they had perhaps six children. Listed in the 1820 and 1830 Tennessee censuses, the 1840 Illinois census, and the 1850 Wisconsin census. The only identified child is Greene. Edward is another possible son.

?? Elizabeth Bandy (306, 17-8) (1780 - 1850) married Daniel James (306, 17-213) on October 13, 1801 in Botetourt County, Virginia. . They had at least two children. Neither Elizabeth nor her husband was mentioned in her father’s will.
?? Sally Bandy (329, 17-9) (1786 - ? ) married Edward Brown (329, 17-436) in Lebanon, Wilson County, Tennessee on September 12, 1806, and they had three children.
?? Jameson (Jimison) Bandy (409, 17-628) (September 16, 1788 - January 16, 1873) He was born in Virginia, and moved to Tennessee where he served in the War of 1812. He was a doctor. Married Elizabeth Wright (409, 16-404) on May 10, 1822 and, they had at least seven children, five of whom are known. Married Nancy Denson (410, 17-629) (July 12, 1816 - July 16, 1888) on July 2, 1842 and they had five children. He is listed in the 1830, 1840, 1850, 1860, and 1870 Tennessee censuses.
?? Richard Bandy (302, 17-10) (1792 - 1854) jumped bond as sheriff of Sumner or Bedford County, Tennessee. Married Kizziah Pearce (302, 17-469) ( ? - before 1849) on December 30, 1817 in Sumner County, Tennessee, and they had five children. Married Lucy Rushing (303, 17-539) (1804 - 1887) after 1840, and they had five children. Richard is listed in the 1820 and 1840 Tennessee censuses. Died Tuckerman, Arkansas. Lucy is listed in the 1860 and 1870 Arkansas censuses.
?? Epperson (Epison) Bandy (296, 17-2) (May 12, 1794 - June 6, 1863) served in the War of 1812 and the War of Creek Indians. He was wounded at Taladega. He married Harriett Pearce (296, 17-389) ( November 2, 1804 - August 26, 1831) on June 2, 1822, and they had at least five children. He married Elizabeth “Betsy” Denton (297, 17-391) (1805 - before 1850) on December 25, 1834, and they had at least three children. That marriage is alternatively listed as between Apperson Bandy and Elizabeth Walker on December 22, 1834 in Wilson county, Tennessee. Listed in the 1830, 1840, 1850, and 1860 Tennessee censuses. Died Wilson County, Tennessee.

In 1922 he reported serving in the Confederate Army. He was at Shilo and saw action in other battles. He was captured and spent nine months in prison at Camp Chase O. He reported parents and grandfather’s names as above. Reported his great-grandfather was George Bandy. That contradicts this reporting.[1]

Chapter 7 Richard and Jane of Virginia and Tennessee
Richard Bandy is the son of Richard Bandy (71, 14-1) (July 8, 1722 to July 21, 1795) and Elizabeth Cardwell Bandy (71, 14-37) ( ? - 1794) who are discussed in Chapter 2. Richard (·) and his wife Jane are discussed here along with their children (??).
· Richard Bandy (156, 16-1) (1750 - November 1815) probably was born in Cumberland County, Virginia. The Richard Bandy who registered for recruitment in Revolutionary War in Captain Pawling’s Co. 15th District, Botetourt County is assumed to be this Richard. Richard and wife Jane (156, 16-370) had ten children. Although family tradition indicates that Richard’s father married Jane Cummins, it is possible that it was this Richard. Botetourt County, Virginia records indicate that Richard Bandy and wife Jane sold real estate on July 14, 1801. As this is after the death of his father, the Richard who acquired real estate would have to have been the son. They moved to Wilson County, Tennessee perhaps around 1804. (Richard is listed in the Botetourt County, Virginia tax rolls as late as 1806 and the Wilson County Tax rolls as early as 1804.) Kentucky records list sons Wilcher and Joseph (Wilson) and possibly Jameson in Kentucky in late the 1700's and early 1800's. See Chapter 10. This indicates that some family members spent time in Kentucky before moving on to Tennessee. All six sons listed below are found in early Tennessee censuses, generally ranging from 1820 to 1860. Son Peron moved to Illinois by 1830. He was joined by brother Solomon by 1840. Solomon moved on to Wisconsin by 1850.
