George Bandy is the son of Richard Bandy (71, 14-1) (July 8, 1722 to July 21, 1795) and Elizabeth Cardwell Bandy (71, 14-37) ( ? - 1794) who are discussed in Chapter 2. George (·) and his wife Drusilla Meador are listed below along with their nine children (??).
· George Bandy (124, 15-139) (1758-1838) was born in Botetourt County, Virginia and died in Breckenridge County, Kentucky. He married Drusilla Meador (124, 15-142)(1760 - 1799). He is listed in the 1820 and 1830 Kentucky censuses. When the family moved to Kentucky is unclear, but records of sons Reuben and George Bannister can be found in Kentucky as early as 1799 (See Chapter 10.) Sons Thomas C. and Richard, discussed below, remained in Kentucky. By 1830 son George Bannister had moved to Indiana where he was joined by brother William Meador by 1840. Another son, Ambrose, moved to Illinois by 1840, and he was joined by brothers Reuben and William Meador by 1850. Son Drinkard made his way to Iowa by 1870. Assumed daughter Elizabeth’s birth date is after Drusilla’s death indicating an error in the record.

He is listed in the 1810 Virginia census, the 1820 and 1830 Kentucky censuses, the 1840 and 1850 Indiana censuses, the 1860 and 1870 Illinois censuses, and apparently the 1870 Indiana census. According to Roy McCroy, many descendants are found in and around Salem, Oregon.

He is listed in the 1870 Iowa census with Martha. Elizabeth is listed in the 1860 and 1870 Kentucky censuses.

???? Nettie Mae Bandy (372, 18-1652) (February 20, 1864 - November 30, 1945). The Nettie J. Bandy who married Thomas J. Welch on July 23, 1882 in Jackson County, Illinois likely is another individual. Descendent Julie Haney reports Nettie’s marriage to William O. Simcoke in Iowa. In the winter of 1896, a diphtheria epidemic swept through Redfield, Iowa claiming all five of William and Nettie’s children in less than a month. Men from town passed boxes that served as caskets through a window to William who wraped the dead children. He placed the bodies in the boxes, and then pass the boxes back through the window. The children are buried in East Linn Cemetery north of town side by side with matching rose colored markers. In 1898, William and Nettie had another son Carrol Leroy Simcoke, known as Pete. Julie Haney is his daughter.
